Terms and licence agreement
Last updated: 25 October 2026
The licence
When you buy Knucklebop you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it on the number of Macs your plan covers (1 or 3) at a time. You can move a licence to another Mac by choosing “Deactivate this Mac” in Settings. You may not resell, share or publish licence keys, or circumvent the trial or licence checks.
Trial
The free trial lasts 7 days and includes every feature.
Updates
We may release updates, and some may be required to keep Knucklebop working. Your purchase is for the version you buy; it doesn't include a right to future updates or new versions.
How Knucklebop works, and its limits
Apple doesn't provide a public way for apps to read the MacBook motion sensor. Knucklebop uses an undocumented part of macOS to do it. A macOS update may change or remove that interface, which could stop Knucklebop from working until we release an update, or permanently. Tap detection is probabilistic: it can miss taps or, rarely, trigger on something that isn't a tap. Don't rely on Knucklebop for anything safety-critical, and check your microphone state in your meeting app.
Scripts you run
Rules can run AppleScript, shell commands and Shortcuts. You're responsible for the scripts you add or import. Imported scripts are shown in full and stay switched off until you approve them.
Warranty and liability
Knucklebop is provided “as is”, without warranties beyond those required by law. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Jaipur, Rajasthan have jurisdiction, without taking away any consumer protections that apply where you live.
